Ruth Ziesak, Soprano
German-born soprano Ruth Ziesak rose immediately to international prominence by singing Pamina with Sir Georg Solti at the 1991 Salzburg Festival and was subsequently launched on a career that now encompasses opera, concert, recital and recording engagements. Between 1992 and 1995 as Pamina, Ruth Ziesak made her debut at La Scala, the Bayerische Staatsoper, Deutsche Staatsoper Berlin, Semper Oper in Dresden, Stuttgart Opera, at the Teatro Comunale, Florence and at the Vienna State Opera. In 1993 she made her Paris debut at the Bastille as Susanna in Le Nozze di Figaro and at the Hamburg State Opera as Baronin in Lortzing's Der Wildschütz. In the 1996-97 she debuted at Covent Garden as Ighino in Pfitzner's Palestrina, conducted by Christian Thielemann and presented in the same season at the Metropolitan Opera.

Ruth Ziesak enjoys a busy concert schedule working regularly with orchestras in Paris, Milan, Vienna, Munich, Leipzig, Amsterdam and London. She is a regular guest at the Festivals of Salzburg, Berlin, Luzern, Schleswig-Holstein, Frankfurt and at the BBC Proms and makes regular concert appearances in the United States and Japan.

In addition to symphonic works for Decca under Solti, Chailly and Blomstedt, Ruth Ziesak's recordings include Die Zauberflöte (Solti/Decca), Fidelio (von Dohnanyi/Decca) and La Clemenza di Tito (Harnoncourt/Teldec).

Operatic appearances this season include Countess at the Zurich Opera and Hero in Berlioz's Béatrice et Bénédict at the Chatelet. Future concert engagements take Ruth Ziesak to Berlin and Tokyo with Kent Nagano, Milano with Helmuth Rilling, Lisbon with john Nelson, Cagliari with Peter Schreier, London with Esa-Pekka Salonen and to Milan and Vienna with Riccardo Muti.
