The London Philharmonic Choir was founded in 1947 as the chorus for the London Philharmonic Orchestra. Working under conductors such as Boulez, Haitink, Masur, Rattle, Solti and Welser-Most the choir has always met with critical acclaim. Now widely regarded as one of the United Kingdom's finest choirs, the London Philharmonic Choir regularly performs with the LPO, the Philharmonia, the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra and other world-class orchestras at major venues and festivals. The choir tours widely, recently to Spain, Germany, and the Czech Republic. In 2000, the London Philharmonic Choir joined the London Philharmonic Orchestra in Poland for a performance of the Beethoveen IX Symphony under Maestro Gilbert Levine, KCSG, a concert broadcast throughout the world from Saint Mary's Basilica in Krakow.
