Founded in 1989 the largest a capella choir of Turkey has been conducted by Hikmet Simsek, Inci Ozdil, Walter Stauss, Ahter Donmez and since 1998 by Ibrahim Yazici. In this short time the choir has taken thousands of a capella works from renaissance to 21st century as well as dozens of large scale orchestral works such as Requiems of Mozart, Brahms, Verdi, Britten, A. L. Weber; Carmina Burana of Orff, Ivan The Terrible of Prokofiev etc. in their repertory. They have recorded a number of cds including the Nazim and Metin Altiok Oratorios (composed for the choir) by Fazil Say and Mozart Requiem and Carmina Burana. They have performed at Istanbul, Izmir, Ankara, Aspendos festivals wih the Presidential Symphony Orchestra, Izmir, Istanbul National Symphony Orchestras and Bilkent Symphony Orchestra under conductors such as Jansuk Kahidze, Antonio Pirolli, Michel Tabachnik, Alexander Rabbari. The choir has made a long concert tour to South Korea in 2003.
